Yay two hour 'spa' haircuts (including massage) for only $20. Student hairdressers at fancy spas are my heroes!

Went to the Habs game to watch them get pummelled by the Canucks last night. They really don't play well in their own zone. Or in the other team's zone. Basically they sucked a good bit. We were in the 'student' seats where Molson hires girls to dance with tambourines. Good fun.
I can't believe I'm coming home in just over three weeks! Then after Christmas I will only have two housemates left! It's going to be crazy around here without Katherine and Jen. Think of it as living with Leslie and Michelle...only taller and blonder. OK, Leslie and Michelle mixed with the quad girls. I am actually kind of afraid.

Hangin' with the hippies tonight, went to a 'Save Burma' benefit at a coffee house called the Yellow Door. My friend Andrea from work and her boyfriend provided some excellent fiddle/singing/guitar action as 'Les Toilettes' and a really great band called Jai Guru played after them. Look into their stuff it's super-bon! (as the crazy French people here would say)
Question of the day:
"Do you French?"
New verb to teach small Bosnian child: 'to speak'.

Went for coffee with cute volunteer boy last night at a fun bar/pub/coffee place. We had good chats and I managed to miss the metro. Argh. Stupid transit strike. Ah well, I guess a good coffee/hot chocolate date is worth an hour and a half walkhome.
So I got home all tired and one of my housemates had just broken up with her boyfriend from home. A bit of wine and a lot of ice cream (plus detailed grilling about my evening) later we were all a little hysterical. Then we decided to watch Shawshank Redemption, an excellent movie when you want something good but totally unromantic. Bedtime was about 1:30am. Not a big deal unless your freezer fan starts buzzing loudly at 5am. Dear Lord it was loud. I finally unplugged the stupid thing at 6 and slept poorly until 7:30. An interesting night.

I almost cried tonight. Jo (housemate) and I took two of the Bosnian refugee kids to a Canadiens game (rough, rough job I have) and as we were walking to the Metro we were looking at some of the row houses. Amar, who is 12, said, "I would really like a house like that. You know, one with... steps. Where there is a living room and a kitchen downstairs and some bedrooms upstairs. But I know it is too expensive." I feel pretty lucky every day.

Ah, Mennonite Community Living.
Last night we spent our community bonding money on the quality entertainment that is so truly Mennonite: alcohol, dancing and drag queens. How I love gay-man-diva-mix dance music! The Celine Dion drag queen was also a big highlight of the evening. An excellent time Chez Madot. Plus lots of great food and fun times with friends. However, I do miss smoke-free Waterloo! My eyes are still burning.

Did I mention the cute random volunteer (Pablo) who just wandered into the House of Friendship looking to help out? He has a degree in International Relations and Cultural Studies from McGill, hobby/career interest=photography. I know because I got to interview him. Plus speaks Spanish....mmm....Spanish.
Ah dancing and drinking to retro music Tuesday night. As dc might say, Post (Cafe Campus) Death Syndrome. $6 pitchers=certain death. But fun.
Tip of the day: don't accidentally knock an ENTIRE ROLL of toilet paper into your dark load of laundry. Possibly the nastiest experience of my life.
